About the author: Fr. George H. Shalhoub was sent to the Balamand Orthodox Monastery at the age of 12. Fr. George is the founder and pastor of the Antiochian Orthodox Basilica of St. Mary in Livonia, Michigan. He is an Associate Professor at Madonna University in the Department of Religion and Philosophy. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern Michigan University in sociology and psychology, a Master’s Degree in theological studies from St. John’s Provincial Seminary, a Doctorate of Ministry Degree in pastoral counseling from the Graduate Theological Foundation at Notre Dame and is a faculty member at the Antiochian House of Studies where he teaches Liturgical Practice. Fr. George has been married to Nouhad (Ghareeb) Shalhoub for 45 years. They have four children and nine grandchildren.
