A triptych icon of the Resurrection of Christ (Harrowing of Hell), imported from Russia.

The central icon is approximately 7.5 X 5 inches; and when opened the triptych measures 7.5 x 10.25.

• Central panel: Christ's descent into Hades; Christ stands triumphantly on the Cross, and pulls our fore-father Adam from the grave (pictured as a cave) while Eve grasps at His foot. Surrounding them are Old Testament saints, kings and prophets. The text in Slavonic at the top of the icon reads: “The Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
• Left panel: Shows angels binding Satan in chains at his defeat when Christ decended into Hades.
• Right panel: Shows an angel welcoming Dismas the Good Thief into paradise. Note: the tree between them represents the “tree” on which Christ was crucified.
